The Russian Federation Pavilion
Shanghai World Expo, Shanghai, China, 2010

The Russian Pavilion for the 2010 World Expo, was styled to look like a fairy-tale world, showing a comfortable city as seen through children’s eyes. The pavilion design entailed a 6,000-square-meter plot and features 12 white towers inspired by traditional Russian women’s costumes.

Laura Jean Healey was asked to collaborate with Musion Systems and Krasnov Design to help create this enchanted fairytale landscape.  Healey worked as the Director of Photography, to film the children who appeared throughout the pavilion as holographic entities – using Musion’s Pepper’s Ghost technique of stage illusion – highlighting the progress of Russia’s technological developments.
