Holographic Film & Performance Installation, 2010

In a culture saturated with digitally altered images that create and confine our definition of the ‘perfect’ female body, it was important forTrigg’s performance to disrupt this with the presence of a real, live body.  In this holographic version she uses the digital technology to displace the body, engaging in a dialogue with the medium.  In as much as the live performance presents an imperfect body as the object of focus, this digitally manufactured image does not alter the body, thus subverting the potential of the technology to sculpt the female form.

Laura Jean Healey was asked to collaborate with Madaleine Trigg and Musion to translate Trigg’s renowned performance ‘Sutre’ into a Holographic Film Installation.  The holographic version of ‘Sutre’ was exhibited at the Kinetica Art Fair for the Musion Academy Screenings, 3rd-6th February 2011.
